An award-winning Welsh choir feature in this year’s M&S Christmas advert.
Côr Ysgol Llwyncelyn from Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Llwyncelyn in Porth provide the music for the advert.
The children star in the advert alongside Amanda Holden, Emma Willis and Paddy McGuinness.
The choir performed to friends, family and other pupils at a special premiere on Wednesday 7 November.
The choir from Porth in the Rhondda sing the Fleetwood Mac song Albatross that has been used throughout M&S’s recent adverts.
The children and their families attended a special premiere event in the school hall of Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Llwyncelyn where they also gave a live performance.
The school choir achieved fame in 2018 when they won Songs of Praise Choir of the Year.
For the advert, the choir received singing coaching from Justin and Dan Hawkins from rock band The Darkness.
M&S say the choir’s version of Albatross will be heard over 350,000 times in stores across the UK with a further 12 million people viewing the advert over the festive period. The school will also feature in posters in 25 of their shops in Wales.
Elin Llywelyn-Williams, Côr Ysgol Llwyncelyn’s conductor, said the choir’s part came together within a week and they loved every moment.
One of the pupils who stars in the advert said they “felt so proud to be a part of something so special” and when asked how the live performance went they replied, “awesome”.
