RSPCA issues warning after man attempts sheep rescue from steep cliff

RSPCA Cymru has issued a warning after a man was spotted helping to rescue a sheep from a cliff in Abereiddy, Pembrokeshire on Saturday.

People near the area saw the man climb across the cliffs to rescue the stranded sheep and return it to safety.

They said the sheep was unharmed and soon ‘trotted off’ after being brought down from the cliff.

Sheep rescue

RSPCA Cymru says people shouldn’t put their own safety at risk trying to rescue animals and should call the animal charity or emergency services instead.

We are really pleased that the sheep and their rescuer are both safe, however we would never encourage a member of the public to put themselves at risk to rescue an animal but to call the RSPCA or emergency services who have specialist safety equipment.

If you find any animal in distress call us on 0300 1234 999.
